On October 13, 2005, Scott Siddall and Ludovic Marcotte of Inverse groupe conseil presented a webinar on Open Source Email Solutions. Longsight has used a stack of open source software to handle our internal mail and clients' mail for the past several years. Using commodity hardware running Linux, with central identity integration, makes for a powerful and scalable combination.
A Flash presentation of the webinar is available at http://inverse.ca/webinar/oct_05/. Case studies of Denison University, Berklee School of Music, and HMC Montreal are included at the end of the presentation. Links to the stack of software described in the webinar are available below:
We also provide opportunities for institutions to pilot modern course management systems without committing to a full implementation. The Longsight Group is currently working with Sakai and Moodle.
The Open Knowledge Initiative has created a great deal of interest in course management systems created for higher education by higher education. Members of The Longsight Group have been involved in OKI activities since October, 2001. We are supporting open source CMS products in several ways:
New Media Consortium
The Appalachian College Association
National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education
Ohio Learning Network
Consortium of Liberal Arts Colleges
The Oberlin Group of Libraries
The National Shellfisheries Association
